Lantmännen Research Foundation invests in external research at universities, colleges and institutes. Through these activities, it aims to develop ideas and support the production of new information that can add value in the entire chain from farm to fork.
Lantmännen Research Foundation has a budget of SEK 15 million per year. The Foundation is the backbone of central research and part of work on open innovation, where researchers and innovators can apply for funding for scientific purposes.
Foundation aims and directions
Through the Foundation, Lantmännen aims to create and develop innovative solutions within the areas in which it operates. The aim is to implement over time the research results obtained, either in the form of increased knowledge or directly in Lantmännen’s operations or on farms. The framework for projects that can be funded is as described in the Foundation’s mission statement:
“The Foundation aims to pursue scientific research and development within the area of cereals and other raw materials from arable production and processing, with the aim of promoting the use of these raw materials”.
The Foundation’s work is divided into three strategic research areas:
- Agriculture and machinery
- Energy and green materials
- Food and packaging
